Supervisor Janet Nguyen Endorses Gracey Van Der Mark For State Assembly
May 22, 2025
Huntington Beach, CA -- Today, Gracey Van Der Mark announced the endorsement of Supervisor Janet Nguyen in her campaign for the 72nd Assembly District. The endorsement is notable as Supervisor Janet Nguyen represents nearly half of the residents of the 72nd Assembly District on the Orange County Board of Supervisors and represented this area for two decades in the State Legislature.
Gracey has established herself as the front runner in the election for the 72nd Assembly District - within days she has announced the notable endorsement from former Orange County Republican Party Chairman Scott Baugh and every member of the Huntington Beach City Council, the largest city in the district. More major endorsements will be announced soon.
“I’m honored to have the support of Supervisor Janet Nguyen,” said Van Der Mark. “The Supervisor has been a long-time representative for this our area at both the state and county levels and I’m honored that she would support me to be her voice in Sacramento.”
The heavily Republican 72nd Assembly District is entirely nested within the County of Orange with a Republican voter registration advantage of 7.6%. The district is currently represented by Assemblywoman Diane Dixon, who has announced she is running for the Orange County Board of Supervisors.
Gracey Van Der Mark’s life story exemplifies the American Dream. Born to immigrant parents and raised in poverty-stricken areas of Los Angeles, she overcame domestic violence to become a business owner and the first Latina to serve as Mayor of Huntington Beach.
